Semba is an Angolan dance and musical genre deeply connected to the history, culture and social life of Angola, where music, movement and connection come together as part of the same experience.
Led by Edmilson Botelho and Lays de Sousa, these regular classes offer an introduction to Semba through its steps, rhythms, musicality and partner-dance dynamics, while also exploring the roots and cultural context of the dance.
More than learning sequences of movements, the classes focus on the relationship with the music, communication between partners and the social dimension of Semba, creating a space for learning, sharing and connection.
The classes are open to everyone, with or without previous experience. No partner is required to join.
An initiative by Associação Bamu Zunta Mon, in Porto.
