The Catalan artist of Haitian descent imagines possible encounters with Haitian voodoo deities, seeking to reterritorialize this religion’s syncretic survival strategy.

Inspired by scenes from the life of martyr Saint Inês, Vooduness sets out to meet Erzulie, loa of love, beauty and maternity, and her multifaceted faces. Can Erzulie be map and mirror, despite the diasporic body’s impossibilities and colourism’s logics? From a dramaturgy impacted by internet language’s stimuli, the friction between Saint Inês and Erzulie and the insistence in Angolan Kuduro’s characteristic moves and Jamaican Dancehall, Vooduness plunges into a state where it is possible to begin a spiritual conversation.
