A session dedicated to the study of two commemorative sculpted medallions representing the verae effigies of W. A. Mozart and Franz Liszt, dated 1909, belonging to the collection of Casa do Campo Pequeno and examined as documents of musical iconography in the city of Porto. The approach brings together art history, musicology, and music, and the iconological analysis seeks to understand these medallions as historical testimonies, relating them to other Portuguese and European cycles — from sixteenth‑century humanist models to seventeenth‑, eighteenth‑, nineteenth‑ and twentieth‑century galleries of musicians — while reconstructing their context of production and circulation in the early twentieth century.
The session includes a selection of curated listening excerpts that articulate iconography, style, and musical reception.
Registration: 10 additional places available for members of the academic community.
