From Pernambuco (Brazil), singers Nêga do Babado and Rayssa Dias are embarking on the *Bregueiras Latinas* tour, a project supported by Funcultura. The tour—featuring these leading figures of the *brega* and *bregafunk* genres—includes a stop at Pérola Negra, a club in Porto, on October 9th. *Bregueiras Latinas* fosters a dialogue between Pernambuco’s *brega* music, Latin music, peripheral culture, the LGBTQIA+ scene, and the power of women in contemporary popular music. More than just an international tour, the project asserts *brega* as a living, emotional, danceable, and political language, connecting Pernambuco to other scenes within the Latin-Atlantic diaspora.
