Três Tristes Tigres (concert)
On December 5, the day Plano B officially celebrates its 20th anniversary, we’ll be hosting Três Tristes Tigres.
Três Tristes Tigres (TTT) got their start back in the early 1990s, around a cheap cassette recorder. Ana Deus, formerly of BAN, and Regina Guimarães informally put together collages and songs. Their first concerts, at the Aniki-Bobó bar (with Ana Deus and Paula Sousa performing live, and Regina Guimarães on backing tracks), resembled a pop cabaret, somewhere between the poetic and the caustic. *PARTES SENSÍVEIS*, released in 1993, stands as a testament to TTT’s original lineup. The collaboration between Ana Deus and Alexandre Soares—a former member of GNR who had since joined the band as a guest musician—then deepened. As the sound of this artistic venture evolved, two albums of original material emerged—GUIA ESPIRITUAL (1996) (“Album of the Year” according to Blitz) and COMUM (1998)—along with a compilation, VISITA DE ESTUDO (2001), which features reinterpretations—some quite different from the originals—of earlier compositions. The group reunited in 2017 at the invitation of the Rivoli Theater in Porto to perform the album GUIA ESPIRITUAL, and in 2020, TTT returned to the studio with the acclaimed MÍNIMA LUZ.
On their new album, *ARCA*, released in late 2025 and named the best Portuguese album of the year by *Expresso*, TTT send love letters to the world. Amid similarities and differences, there is an awareness that everything is inscribed within each of us and that the whole is part of the detail. Songs about migration and upheaval, animated by the desire for love to spread. Most of the lyrics continue to be written by poet Regina Guimarães, and the music is composed by Alexandre Soares and Ana Deus.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. and guarantees a night out at Plano B for the rest of the evening.
