On November 7, Homem do Robe will release his next album, “Ministério do Gesso.”
Some people make music to tell stories. Homem do Robe decided to create a ministry.
In Ministério do Gesso, the artist takes on the role of Minister and heads a fictional institution where bureaucracy replaces common sense, authority coexists with absurdity, and official communiqués are written in the form of songs.
Each song functions as an official decree. Each concert is like a parliamentary session where the audience is summoned to perform duties they never asked for. Amid incomprehensible financial reports, impromptu press conferences, “Aura Farming” departments, and baseless decrees, the album constructs a satire of power through a language all its own, where everyday Portuguese life, popular culture, and humor coexist with high-energy electronic music.
More than just a visual concept, the Ministério do Gesso is a universe—an imaginary public agency that transforms administrative procedures into entertainment, where everything seems official even though nothing truly makes sense.
Musically, the album explores different approaches to electronic music while maintaining Homem do Robe’s signature style: fast beats, memorable choruses, and lyrics that oscillate between surrealism, social criticism, and absurd humor.
In live performances, the Minister addresses the public to announce new measures, disclose classified documents, and preside over ceremonies where dancing ceases to be a choice and becomes a civic duty.
Ministério do Gesso does not intend to solve problems.
