The Rocky Horror Picture Show, directed by Jim Sharman, is a musical that, in defiance of the notion of genre, combines horror, comedy and science fiction. The film follows a newly married couple, Brad and Janet, whose car breaks down near a mysterious castle. There they meet Dr Frank-N-Furter, an eccentric scientist from another planet, and his equally ‘bizarre’ team. Over the course of the night, they are drawn into a wild and extravagant world of music, sexual exploration and self-discovery.
