Principal conductor of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra in Switzerland, Michael Sanderling has been collaborating regularly with the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra for many years. His programmes are meticulously thought out and the artistic result, based on a sonic conception of great refinement, is extremely appreciated by the public and the musicians themselves. Their first programme of 2024 is dedicated to the transition from Classicism to Romanticism, a period dominated by Germanic composers, with masterpieces by Mozart, Weber and Schumann. We'll hear Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2, performed by Nuno Vaz, and Weber's First Symphony, as the coronation of Classicism, leaving Schumann to introduce the impetus of Romanticism.
