A concert in aid of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, with an unusual programme that celebrates the exciting musical tradition of American adventure cinema. The Symphony Orchestra performs classic soundtracks by Stephen Warbeck, Alan Silvestri and the inescapable John Williams, doyen of Hollywood composers. Among pieces that have won Oscars and major film awards, we remember films that are cherished by kids and adults alike – from Superman to Harry Potter, via E. T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones or Forrest Gump. The musical direction is in the hands of Katharina Morin, a promising young German conductor who, this season, as well as performing in front of the most diverse European audiences, will be assistant orchestral director of the Orchestre de Paris and the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
