On November 8, the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar (ICBAS) of Universidade do Porto invites the public to celebrate International One Health Day.
With free admission and a program designed to involve the whole family, the event includes activities for adults, such as scientific dissemination sessions conducted by young researchers from ICBAS and a round table on health in cities, and, at the same time, interactive workshops for children and young people aged 6 to 15.
The initiative will take place at the Edifício Abel Salazar (entrance on Rua Prof. Vicente José de Carvalho) and the program includes:
3 p.m. | The Future of Science: Health in Action, scientific dissemination sessions, with young researchers presenting projects on topics as diverse as microbiota and cancer, autism, climate change, and health in adventure sports, moderated by retired ICBAS professor Alexandre Quintanilha.
5 p.m. | Round table Thinking about Health in Cities, with doctor Dalila Veiga, geographer José Alberto Rio Fernandes, architect Ana Neiva, and veterinarian Luís Montenegro, moderated by journalist Lúcia Gonçalves.
3 p.m. and 5 p.m. | Workshops for children and young people aged 6 to 15, where they can be a “Scientist for a Day” and explore topics such as water pollution and zoonotic diseases in a fun and experimental way.
