Starting from the exhibition Flow. Objects, People and Places, as a device for assembling relationships between heterogeneous and anachronistic objects and images, bringing together geographically distant places, cultures and spiritual and religious dimensions, the Drawing Club proposes a program of 3 observation and memory drawing workshops. Starting with a visit to the exhibition, these workshops propose drawing as an intermediary between the visible and the imaginary. Led by artists Irene Loureiro, Sofia Neto and Marco Mendes, and through the use of tools, representation systems, graphic records and specific drawing actions, participants are invited to create images that illustrate inventories, journeys and landscapes.
Session Program
This workshop proposes a visual thinking exercise divided into two complementary moments. The first starts from votive statuettes and focuses on observational drawing. Participants are invited to collect, to create an inventory in which, without realizing it, they mix representation strategies and graphic languages. The second, inspired by mandala paintings, as a scheme for organizing reality, explores circular formats. Based on the inventory and using transfer and repetition, the aim is to create a cartography capable of reorganizing the world.
Session led by Irene Loureiro.
