On March 21st, at 11:00 AM, Casa da Guitarra will host a workshop on the Viola Braguesa, led by João Diogo Leitão – a musician and researcher dedicated to the practice, study, and dissemination of traditional Portuguese violas, with a particular focus on the viola braguesa.
Throughout his career, he has developed artistic, pedagogical, and research projects that contribute to the preservation and renewal of the repertoire and techniques associated with this emblematic instrument of the Minho musical heritage, collaborating on projects, training programs, and cultural initiatives related to traditional Portuguese music.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops promoted by Casa da Guitarra throughout 2026, a program dedicated to the appreciation of traditional stringed instruments and the creation of spaces for learning, sharing, and encounters between musicians, students, and interested audiences.
Within this context, the session aims to deepen the knowledge and practice of the viola braguesa, bringing together participants of different experience levels in a formative and collaborative environment.
This initiative therefore represents an opportunity to connect with a leading performer, develop musical skills, and actively participate in the continuation of an instrumental tradition that remains alive and constantly evolving.
