Rita Castanheira's (Coimbra, 1996) “Shiver down the spine” embraces the virtual world as an extension of the sensory experience, a lens through which the perception of reality is investigated and a space for transformation, experimentation and liberation is created.

At O.Estúdio, Castanheira presents an installation that articulates digital and analog media, with automatic and fully conscious processes. Between portals and virtual landscapes, the textile establishes the connection between screen and screen, point to pixel, revealing games of light and brightness. Starting from formal and universal characteristics of biology and cyberspace, the artist develops a simulated environment where symbolic forms such as the spiral, the web and the spine are discovered. There is something intangible, or even magical, that runs through the exhibition, where purple and violet tones create tensions between earthy red and sky blue.

“Shiver down the spine” by Rita Castanheira, opens on the 16th and is on display at O.Estúdio, until the 3rd of March. To visit please ring the bell or schedule an appointment with the artist via Instagram @rita___subtil.
