"O Tigre Azul" -directed by Petr Oukropec and Bohdan Sláma

In a city governed by a cruel mayor, only one thing can save an old botanical garden from being turned into an amusement park — the Blue Tiger. Now, two friends, Johanka and Matyas, must shield the tiger from the mayor’s evil clutches. This political fairy tale blends imagination and fantasy into a weapon to fight tyranny. In the end, it is the wild imaginary hero that gives strength to the children and their families to fight for this magical place of their youth.

In this screening, we present for the first time a film made during the Animation Workshop led by director Laura Gonçalves over the Easter holidays. During the course, participants between 9 and 12 years old had the opportunity to develop a short animated film, trying out different steps in the process such as choosing a subject, building the storyboard, exploring different animation techniques, developing characters and scenes, directing and editing.
