Collective dedicated to enabling poetry written by cis and trans women, which holds monthly meetings in Porto.
Candela Night is free and open to everyone. It is not conceived as a performance, but rather as a place for sharing and exchange, whether through the reading of poems, original or not, or through listening.
We have only one rule: the poem must have been written by a woman, cis or trans. And of course, we do not tolerate misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, racism, or any forms of oppression.
Our meetings always take place on Fridays in partnership with A Gralha, who welcomes us warmly. During the event, we take a dinner break (see @csa.a.gralha for more information about the menu and reservations).
This month’s Candela is a tribute to Ana Cristina César, Brazilian poet, literary critic, teacher, and translator, also known for the marginal poetry of the 1970s. And for this reason, we will hold a raffle of her portrait in woodcut by our dear member @isabelle, poet and visual artist.
