An encounter that proposes new interpretations of ancestral rhythms, blending musical practices rooted in cultural heritage with experimental and contemporary approaches.
Nkisi is a London-based artist and musician of Congolese heritage who combines sound, performance, and research to explore memory, resistance, and forms of liberation through the moving body.
Gonçalo F. Cardoso is a traveling musician based in Tenerife whose practice spans composition, improvisation, field recording, and curation; he is the founder and artistic director of the experimental label Discrepant.
The residency will culminate in a performance at the Centro Cultural de Belém, as well as a talk and a new performance at Lovers & Lollypops in Porto.
About Ciclo de Música Discreta:
Ciclo de Música Discreta establishes itself as a space for artistic encounter and experimentation centered on active listening and sharing, offering experiences that challenge conventional ways of listening to and engaging with sound. By intersecting distinct artistic languages and practices, it creates common ground between artists and the audience, where sound is understood not merely as aesthetic material but also as a tool for political, cultural, and sensory reflection.
