Starting May 16th at 4 PM, the Nicolau Nasoni Gallery presents, at Rua do Rosário 100, Porto, the collective exhibition + launch of L’Héritage, also marked by the launch of a serigraph by the artist José de Guimarães.
Conceived around the idea of artistic heritage, the exhibition brings together different works and trajectories in a dialogue about continuity, influence, and permanence in contemporary art. Across generations, languages, and materials, references intersect, showing how artistic creation is also built upon memory, transmission, and transformation.
With the central participation of José de Guimarães, L’Héritage highlights one of the most unavoidable figures in contemporary Portuguese art. Over decades, the artist has developed a profoundly unique visual language, marked by the relationship between symbol, color, writing, and cultural identity. His work, influenced by African and Oriental references, has built its own universe that transcends geographical boundaries.
In this presentation, the presence of José de Guimarães reinforces the idea of legacy as the capacity to influence new readings, new gestures, and new ways of thinking about contemporary art.
The program also includes works by Pedro Cabrita Reis and the launch of a book with a tile artwork by Joana Vasconcelos, in partnership with Urucum.
