The first block of exhibitions of the year at the Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP) puts the spotlight on artists based in Porto or with strong ties to the city.

The first floor of the GMP is home to Collapse, an exhibition by Silvestre Pestana — a leading figure in Porto's contemporary art scene and a pioneer of visual poetry, performance, video art, electronic art and digital art.

Meanwhile, the ground floor hosts the inaugural exhibition of the GMP's new initiative, Commissions, which supports the creation of new artworks and showcases the vitality of the national art scene. This show features pieces by Mauro Cerqueira, Joana Escoval, Sara Graça, Catarina Miranda, and Mariya Nesvyetaylo.

Finally, on the -1 floor, visitors can explore 'Sea Skin' by Eunice Pais. This Portuguese-Mozambican multidisciplinary artist lives and works in Esposende and Porto. Her work draws on different legacies to explore the ways in which species and geographies coexist.
