What is the role of this hidden agent of the theater called the machinist?

This presentation aims to give him a well-deserved visibility by revealing the importance of theatrical machinery in the creation of scenic illusion. Derived from Filipe Silva's master's degree project in Performing Arts (specializing in Scenography), it encourages the spectator to reflect on the materiality of theatrical performance through the physicality of the machinist's work, proposing a link between the operability of the gears and performativity. This approach centered on the body-object relationship - the body as an extension of the machinery and vice versa - enriches the perception of the nature of theater, while contributing to the valorization of these professionals.
