Teatro Dom Roberto
S.A. Marionetas (PT)
Metro do Porto · Estação da Trindade
fimp is also the place to revisit traditional puppet theatre forms, so we could not help but invite Dom Roberto. This national hero (recently inscribed on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Portugal) and member of the illustrious Eurasian family of glove puppets, with his inhuman voice and always ready to engage in slapstick, promises to electrify and entertain children of all ages.
For this year’s Festival, we have invited the talented José Gil from S.A. Marionetas to animate this devilish little character and bring us a menu with three signature dishes:
The Diabolical Barber
Dom Roberto, our hero, on his wedding day goes to a barber to have his beard and hair cut. After the service is done, Don Roberto doesn't want to pay because he thinks the price is too high. He has a big disagreement with the barber. The priest arrives to settle the matter. The policeman is still trying to bring order to the street. The Devil appears and wants to take him with him, and finally Death. Don Roberto ends up defeating death itself.
The Castle of the Ghosts
The Princess is trapped in the Castle and the Castle is full of ghosts. A Crocodile who keeps trying to eat everything. A Giant who keeps the Princess trapped. As Don Roberto passes by the castle, he sees the Princess trapped and she promises him that if he frees her, she'll marry him. Upon hearing this promise, Don Roberto tries to overcome everything and everyone to marry the beautiful princess.
Rosa and her three boyfriends
Rosa has three boyfriends, the Shoemaker, the Goldsmith and the Brazilian. They all promise her lots of gold, goods and money. One day, when the bosses have gone out, they leave the house in Rosa's care and she catches sight of her boyfriends. Afraid of being caught, Rosa hides her boyfriends around the house. When they arrive, the bosses hear a noise and think there are burglars in the house. The police turn up and confusion ensues.
