ERMA — the feminine counterpart of ‘ermo’ (Portuguese for ‘desolate’). In this performance, Erma plays the role of a puppet girl suspended in a place between past, present, and future. She finds herself in situations that are unfamiliar to her or that she cannot remember, wandering through memories and encountering objects, her only friends. What unfolds is a journey through a visual poem—a meditation on solitude in times of war, guided by a simple narrative thread, interwoven with micro-narratives told by the character’s inner voice, as well as encounters with herself and other characters that gradually revive her memory.

With a peculiar aesthetic, rooted in visual arts and reused materials, the production explores a wide range of techniques and forms of manipulation, as well as their relationship with the body.

Porto-based creator Catarina Falcão, whose trajectory has long been intertwined with fimp, is now bringing us her most recent creation.
