Caminho do Burro (Donkey’s Path) is a comic and poetic reflection on the meaning and implications of freedom, told from the perspective of a donkey, who enters the scene literally carrying the weight of his own history, while questioning his condition as a beast of burden. As the set turns, unfolds and transforms, we are invited to follow the journey of a migrant donkey through the defining moments of his search for a better life.

The performance is brought to life by an actress using various traditional puppet theatre techniques, accompanied by a musician playing a variety of musical instruments and sound-making toys.

Historioscópio took some of its first steps during a WIP session at fimp’15 and is now returning with this new production. Premiered in 2024 and having come a long way, it no doubt still has far to go.
