Workshop for families and the general public interested in experimenting with moving images.
Ages 6 and up
July 18, 2026 & July 19, 2026 | 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
Each session is independent. Free admission; No prior registration required.
Inspired by the newsreels that preceded the television news as we know it today, we propose to create our own news segment together.
As the workshop title suggests, this process will involve a good dose of fabrication, imagination, and collaboration among the participants, in a context where (almost) anything goes.
Starting with pre-existing images and sounds, we will explore imagination, free association, and narrative creation, inspired by the work of artist Aikaterini Gegisian, currently on view at RAMPA.
We invite each participant to bring one or two images (personal photographs, newspaper clippings, or fragments of any kind) with which they identify for some reason, to serve as a starting point for this exercise, which will involve the production of short videos.
At the end, we’ll bring all the contributions together to assemble our collaboratively produced “newsreel,” which will be screened in the exhibition space this weekend.
