In this workshop, Maria Beraldo – a Brazilian artist based in São Paulo – will bring pieces from the Brazilian repertoire to be listened to collectively by the group, proposing listening exercises and sharing her way of hearing music in connection with her creative process. With recordings by Pixinguinha, Caetano Veloso, Dorival Caymmi, Tavinho Moura, Arrigo Barnabé, Tom Jobim, among others, the artist invites the group to analyze various musical parameters and engage in free creative exercises in different areas, which may include music, dance, graphic arts, writing, etc. Starting from the idea that everything one creates is, in fact, a way of listening – to music, people, places, stories – a way of perceiving the world, the artist shares her creative process based on the concepts she draws from musical listening and invites participants to experience this listening practice and this mode of creation.
