“Ensayo de una catástrofe” arises from questioning the traditional ways of creating in the circus, asking:

What would happen if we highlighted the physical needs of the artists and the technical elements that a circus performance requires? In rehearsals, a space for experimentation and creation, we seek the answers.

There, magnesium powder, a typical element of the hand-to-hand discipline, ceased to be used solely for achieving feats. The circular space was designed with the intention of offering spectators different points of view. Technique was placed at the service of the scene, and the acrobats began to reveal, without fear of judgement, their fatigue, exhaustion, and inevitable sweat.

From this, a new question arose:

What still remains of the circus?

½ kg of magnesium powder and the bodies of two acrobats positioned in a 360° space take centre stage to create visual metaphors inspired by the image of a collapsing building and the emotions that prevail in people when a catastrophe approaches.
