Based on the curatorial concept of the exhibition "Fluxo. Objetos, Pessoas e Lugares" (Flux. Objects, People and Places) and its articulation with the museological program of the Museu das Convergências (Museum of Convergences), this conference aims to present ideas and reflections on how objects assume a central role in the epistemology of relationships between ourselves and others, between what we recognize as our essence or becoming and the relationships we establish with what is alien to us, and how, through this negotiation, we and this alien reality are always in constant flux. In this way, the importance of objects, the processes of musealization of objects and other immaterial expressions of culture, and the role that museums can play in knowledge are questioned.
The conference cycle "On the Art and Poetics of Objects" invites five speakers (in individual sessions spaced over time) to present reflections on themes surrounding the importance of objects in their utilitarian, symbolic, and material dimensions.
