In close collaboration with the Festival de Cinema Porto Femme, we have created a program of three short films that aim to bring to light works addressing issues related to the female experience and challenging the underrepresentation of women in cinema. From the physical changes of puberty to social conventions around body hair and hair, these films open space for reflection and dialogue between the audience and the guests.
In "Girino", during a forest excursion, ten-year-old Marlene faces the first changes of puberty and identifies with a tadpole, which becomes the target of her classmates’ teasing. In "O Verão de Eloise", a mixed-race girl discovers the beauty of her curly hair and records her adventure in an illustrated book. Finally, "Pernas Peludas" follows a 13-year-old girl on a journey of self-discovery, questioning societal conventions around hair removal.
