The Febre Collective – a group of architects and artists engaged in collaborative practices focused on public space and community dynamics – will lead a furniture-building workshop open to participants of all ages. Using simple and accessible construction techniques, this workshop aims to activate local know-how, encourage cooperation among participants, and strengthen collective ownership of the Lavadouros as a space for gathering and creation. The structures built, adapted to the needs and imaginations of the school community and the surrounding area, will later be used in activities with the students of Escola da Alegria at the Lavadouros, promoting the ongoing use of the space and contributing to its value as a community resource.
While the construction workshop is taking place, Rosinda Casais – an architect and artist with a studio at Praça da Alegria – and Sofia Santos – an artist, art educator, and representative of the Escola da Alegria’s Parents Association – will lead the first session in the creation of a collective mural. This will be a moment of listening and exchange: we will gather ideas, intentions, and availability in order to begin a shared creative process. How do you draw a mural together? From the connection with the place to the artistic gesture, this will be an intergenerational gathering, open to all ages, where we seek to cultivate closeness through presence, listening, and collective creation.
