The first cycle dedicated to revolutionary Portuguese music closes with the participation of the Pró-Música youth choir, Pró-Música EMcanto and the Póvoa de Varzim Music School, under the direction of Rui Silva. "Canções Heróicas" is the term usually used to describe a series of songs composed by Fernando Lopes-Graça. They acquired this name because of their contribution to the exaltation of freedom, giving strength to those fighting against the Estado Novo. Their first version, published in 1946, was quickly banned by Censorship. Over the course of 50 years, these songs only circulated in clandestine form, released with great caution to a very limited number of people. On 27 April, we're taking them back with the strength of young voices.
The recital cycle "Ao Ritmo da Revolução" commemorates the 40th anniversary of the 15 April 1974 revolution in Portugal.
