On the 30th anniversary of Academia de Música de Costa Cabral, this concert features the conductor who led the very first edition of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra Workshop.
The programme highlights two of his former students – composer Nuno Lobo and saxophonist Daniel Ferreira, both graduates of the school in the past decade – and culminates in a performance of Mahler’s monumental and challenging Symphony No. 1.
