Charca is the third iteration of an exhibition cycle that began with Ilha (2013) and continued with Olho (2015), bringing artistic creation into dialogue with literary works and bookshop spaces. Taking A Charca (2021), by Manuel Bivar, as its starting point, the exhibition brings together Bárbara Assis Pacheco, Joana Linda, M̶i̶g̶u̶e̶l̶ Bonneville, Sofia Arriscado, Carlota Lagido and Carla Cruz. Through drawing, installation, video and photography, the artists explore questions of ecological crisis, technological dependence, bodily vulnerability and our relationship with the environment, opening the book out into different directions.
