On a fantastic journey, two pianists discover the wonders of the underwater world on a single piano. In 1905, Claude Debussy completed the colourful orchestral score of La Mer. At a time when phonographs and gramophones were unable to reproduce long works, the composer created a version of the music that could be played on a piano with four hands. This way, anyone could hear the score, even without an orchestra. Whispers of the Sea is an immersive and submersible concert that invites us to reflect on the transience of our environment. The pianists perform inside a giant cube, while videos are projected onto the walls, recreating an underwater world that interacts with the musicians. They become characters in a visual and auditory experience that blends real and virtual space. A dive, in a diving suit, into Debussy’s music.
