Roots is one of the themes running throughout the Casa da Música season. This module proposes to discuss the roots and meaning of “culture” and “art”, and their development. It will address the authors, studies and concepts that have shaped this field, including T. S. Eliot, Theodor W. Adorno, Max Horkheimer, Walter Benjamin and contemporary voices.
We live surrounded by culture — in the music we listen to, the series we watch and the social media we use. This module will explore these dimensions and seek to understand how culture is produced today, how it transforms, and how it intersects with the economy, creativity and innovation.
