Responsible for creating a genre uniquely their own, the “samba doido” (“crazy samba”), born from the fusion of jazz-funk and samba, Azymuth are a remarkable example of longevity and, 50 years after their formation, remain one of Brazil’s most influential bands. The only original member still in the lineup, Alex Malheiros sees preserving the group’s musical legacy as a spiritual duty. For this concert, he brings Marca Passo, the band’s first album released since the passing of founding drummer Ivan “Mamão” Conti.

Beyond the boundaries of jazz and funk, Azymuth have also left a lasting mark on electronic music, collaborating with artists such as 4hero, Madlib, and Jazzanova, while their tracks have been remixed by figures including Theo Parrish, Ron Trent, Global Communication, and Daniel Maunick.
