Founded in 2018, Amicitia Chorus is a space for experimentation that views Portuguese musical heritage as living material and a source of creative possibilities. It draws on its roots to forge new paths, combining rigorous choral practice with a special focus on the voices of the people. The choir's activity is based on a clear triad: the direct reinterpretation of traditional repertoire, preserving original melodies and texts; the adaptation of works by authors with a deep connection to oral tradition; and the creation of new pieces that draw on ethnographic sources to project their own aesthetic. This structure allows it to affirm the continuity of Portuguese musical heritage while consciously exploring its reinvention in the present.
