“Yes, I am Brazilian, and very Brazilian. In my music, I let the rivers and seas of this great Brazil sing. I put no brakes, no restraints, no gag on the tropical exuberance of our forests and our skies,” confessed Heitor Villa-Lobos. Ideals that he put into practice in Floresta do Amazonas (Amazon Forest), a grand suite based on pre-Columbian Amazonian legends. Nature, territory and the multiple traditions of Brazilian culture are also the ingredients that feed Bianca Dacosta, a visual artist who will dialogue with Villa-Lobos’ masterpiece in this very special concert. Also noteworthy is the presence of Portuguese soprano Camila Mandillo, lending her voice to the songs contained in the score, including the famous “Melodia Sentimental”.
