On December 19th, at 6pm, in Pinguim's basement, we present the fanzine "Houses yes, not like this!", which concludes the project (A)Briga – For the Right to Housing, funded by DGARTES - Art for Democracy.
Over the course of a year, (A)Briga reflected on the right to housing in light of past and present struggles, promoting critical thinking through artistic practice and community dialogue. The project included an artistic residency and exhibition, a concert by UP's Choir accompanied by poetry readings, a flâneur photography workshop, and a film screening with debate - always in bookshops and independent spaces in Porto's downtown. The project was supported by the Institute of Sociology at the University of Porto and in collaboration with Habitação Hoje.
This fanzine is born from a shared indignation. Artists and activists joined forces to create other languages of struggle against the housing crisis: photography, collages, poetry, illustrations, painting, postcards, anti-eviction tips, and crosswords.
We're waiting for you to close this cycle together. Bring texts, poems, songs, words of struggle. We want to make this a shared celebration.
