Composer and interpreter of timeless themes from Portuguese popular music, such as "Amélia dos Olhos Doces", "Lisboa Meu Amor", "Alcácer que Vier", Carlos Mendes won the Festival da Canção twice: in 1968, with "Verão"; and in 1972, with "A Festa da Vida".


Celebrating his 60th career, the singer will perform solo in the Salão Ático of the Coliseu Porto Ageas to bring to life the songs that have marked his career, but also others by great poets such as Fernando Pessoa, António Gedeão, António Boto, Miguel Torga, Manuel Alegre, José Niza, José Jorge Letria, Agostinho Neto and José Fanha. With 21 albums published, he has taken part in several television programmes. The Portuguese Society of Authors awarded him the Medal of Honour for the celebration of his 50-year career, and the Lisbon City Council awarded him the Municipal Medal of Cultural Merit. His latest album, "Viagem" (2023), was awarded the Pedro Osório prize by the Portuguese Society of Authors last January and will be presented to the public.
