The Choro Laboratory — Knowledge Passed On is a monthly workshop led by musicians Chico Bastos and Saulo Giovannini, promoted by Clube do Choro - Porto, dedicated to exploring and deepening the understanding of Brazilian choro music.

Inspired by the oral tradition of choro, the laboratory focuses on learning through listening, observation and collective practice, reviving the transmission of musical knowledge from musician to musician.

Throughout the sessions, participants will explore rhythms such as maxixe, polka, waltz, samba-choro and baião, alongside traditional repertoire, group accompaniment, phrasing, ornamentation and improvisation.

More than a music workshop, this is a space for intercultural exchange, where different experiences and cultural backgrounds come together through music.

Open to musicians with basic instrumental skills, as well as choro enthusiasts who wish to participate through active listening and shared musical experiences.

An opportunity to learn, experiment and make music together, keeping alive a tradition passed from person to person.
