Lindy Hop is an African American social dance that emerged within Black communities in Harlem, New York, during the 1920s and 1930s, deeply connected to Jazz music and Swing culture.
Led by Edmilson Botelho and Gabriela Manfredini, these regular beginners' classes offer an introduction to Lindy Hop through its fundamental movements, rhythm, musicality, improvisation and partner communication, while also exploring the history and cultural context in which the dance developed.
More than learning steps and figures, the classes invite participants to discover Lindy Hop as a social dance built through the connection between music, movement and partner.
No previous dance experience is required and no partner is needed to join.
An initiative by Associação Bamu Zunta Mon, in Porto.
