Simultaneous Openings Reading Club / Atelier 3|3
Conversation circle “Reading Is in the Street”
This activity is part of the Simultaneous Openings Arts Library (BAIS), a community-based and itinerant project in the Miguel Bombarda Cultural Quarter, developed continuously across each edition of **Simultaneous Openings 2026**, with different reading themes and a “featured figure” in each edition. Everyone is invited to take part and to bring a book to read (an excerpt). Book donations are also welcome – together we will help build BAIS!
Reading proposal and conversation circle for 24 January 2026:
Inês Lourenço (Porto, 1942). She holds a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, Portuguese Studies, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto. Since 1980, she has published more than twenty books of poetry and micro-fiction. She has taken part in numerous literary events in Portugal and abroad. Her book *Ainda o Lugar Incerto da Procura* (Glaciar, 2024) was named by the critics of *Ípsilon*, the cultural supplement of the newspaper *Público*, as the second best poetry book of the year. In 2023, she was awarded the **City Medal of Merit** by Porto City Council in recognition of her work as a poet.
About Atelier 3|3:
Atelier 3|3 is a multi-dynamic, collective and creative project in the field of alternative publishing. It is a mobile workspace and a publishing house created to highlight the diversity of self-published and independent editions. The collective operates as a cultural and recreational association led by Cristina Alves (President), a lower and upper secondary school teacher in the Portuguese national education system, with a postgraduate degree in library management.
Cristina Alves is also responsible for ZineFest PT, an international event dedicated to fanzines.
Madame Zine is her semi-heteronym, associated with multiple self-editions, publications and news from her own world – by her own hand and by improper hands, unruly, without encyclopaedic registration, loosely pasting together notes and images, photographs, nomadic poetry and the ambition of being many books, a bookseller, and free!
Cristina Alves is involved in several spaces located in the Miguel Bombarda Quarter, notably the independent bookshop Gato Vadio.
