Blessing of the Backpacks to take place on 11 July at the Church of Clérigos

Continuing an initiative that has been held for several years, UIDPJ – União Internacional de Peregrinos Jacobeus will once again promote the Blessing of the Backpacks, on 11 July, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Clérigos, in Porto.

The initiative is open to all pilgrims who wish to attend and bring their backpack, in a moment of gathering, spirituality and blessing connected to the experience of the Camino de Santiago.

Pilgrims who are in Porto at that time and preparing to begin their Camino will also be very welcome, making this celebration an opportunity to symbolically mark their departure towards Santiago de Compostela.

The ceremony will include the participation of the Choir of the Associação Cultural de Oliveira do Douro, under the direction of Maestro Luiz Filipe Marques, bringing a special musical and community dimension to the occasion.

With this initiative, UIDPJ reinforces Porto’s connection to the Portuguese Caminos de Santiago and highlights the city as a place of welcome, encounter and departure for pilgrims.
