Do you like dancing?
Have you heard of Balfolk?
Balfolk emerged in the 1970s from a French revival movement, which sought to adapt traditional dances so that they could be danced and played by everyone, not just folk groups. The movement grew, eventually spreading beyond France’s borders. The movement gradually grew, eventually spreading beyond France’s borders.
Nowadays, the music is more contemporary, blending styles ranging from jazz to contemporary music, whilst drawing on traditional rhythms and musical modes. Balfolk can be found in various European countries, ranging from couple dances to group dances in a variety of formations.
In these sessions, we travel the world through music and dance. We share moments of joy and movement whilst connecting with others in a relaxed atmosphere, through a practice that is accessible to people of all levels of experience. We explore our physical expression, our capacity for non-verbal communication, our physicality and musicality, whilst keeping the cultural heritage of various countries alive.
