An open book, a cup between the hands, a body among cushions and blankets. In Aconchego, Joana Nóbrega celebrates the little gestures that make us feel at home.
The female figures give themselves over to reading and rest. Their faces, often partly hidden behind books, suggest a world of thoughts, memories and imagination. In other works, their gazes and gestures reveal different ways of experiencing these moments of pause.
Stripes run across blankets, clothes and walls, creating a sense of movement that contrasts with the stillness of the figures.
Through vibrant colours and quiet gestures, the exhibition invites us to slow down and recognise the comfort of a place where we can simply be.
