Music on Music is excited to present a listening session celebrating the 10th anniversary of Danny Brown’s “Atrocity Exhibition”, followed by a live video interview with producers Paul White and Holly, who will join in to discuss the 2016 masterpiece that cemented the Detroit rapper as one of the most singular artists working today, their respective contributions to Brown’s music over the years, and how the album has influenced the hip-hop soundscape and beyond over the last 10 years. The free-entry event will be held on October 8th 2026 (9:00pm), at Radioclube Agramonte/Espaço Agra, in Porto, Portugal.

Coming off of the breakout success of 2011’s “XXX” and 2013’s “Old”, “Atrocity Exhibition” not only marked Brown’s debut for Warp Records, but offered a pitch-black depiction of his own descent towards self-destruction and the haunting nightmares, traumas and trappings of fame lurking through the darkest corners of his psyche. A perfect storm of lyrical reflections that’s perpetually elevated by mind-melting instrumentals (drawing as much from post-punk legends Joy Division and psychedelic/industrial music as from classic hip-hop staples) and show-stopping features from Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, Kelela, B-Real and Petite Noir, Brown’s most uncompromising musical achievement still sounds unlike any other hip-hop album that has come before or since, an exhilarating and uncomfortable downward spiral that treads a fine line between unfiltered mania and abrasive disorder.

At the helm of the album’s innovative production lies London artist-producer Paul White, who contributed to 10 of the 15 tracks on “Atrocity Exhibition” and had already produced a number of Brown’s most unique tracks over the years. White has also released his own solo work, a collaborative album with Eric Biddines (as Golden Rules) and Open Mike Eagle, and even contributed to works by Sudan Archives, Obongjayar and Charli xcx. His long-running chemistry with Danny Brown, however, makes the pair’s work as intrinsically linked as any artist-producer relationship can get, having reimagined together what a hip-hop album can sound like, and therefore making White the perfect guest to reflect on the irrefutable legacy of “Atrocity Exhibition” and their work as a whole.

Joining White is Miguel Oliveira (aka HOLLY). Born in Caldas da Rainha and currently living in Los Angeles, the Portuguese producer and DJ has built on his constant presence in hip-hop music (in Portugal and overseas) with an increasingly strong international presence in the electronic music landscape. Having worked with everyone from Baauer, Machinedrum and RL Grime to Slow J, Dengaz and Papillon, HOLLY has also collaborated with Danny Brown on multiple occasions, having produced the title track on 2023’s “Quaranta” and 4 of the 14 tracks on the rapper’s latest record, 2025’s “Stardust”.
