Cyril Kaplan is a musician, producer, author, and researcher based in Prague, Czech Republic. He plays drums in the bands Vložte kočku and Mutanti hledaj východisko. With Vložte kočku, he has received several music awards (Anděl, Vinyla) and was nominated for a Czech Lion for the soundtrack to the film Domestik. In 2025, he released two debut EPs. With the project Xadrex — which fuses traditional Arabic music, electronics, and post-rock elements — where Cyril acts as composer, producer, vocalist, and drummer, he released a four-track collection titled 7. Under his own name, he released a dance-oriented EP built around the sound of live instruments and analog synthesizers. He connects music and science in the project 4.5Ga~24h, composing pieces based on data about the ancient history of planet Earth.
In Hotelier, Cyril is going to present his new piece The Life Live, a musification of paleobiodiversity data. The composition will retell the story of life using musical language. Cyril explores the topic of life and deep history of planet Earth for the last three years, you can listen to his composition And Human, which illustrates when exactly in history of Earth appearead certain cruciall elements (earth itself, oceans or air) and specific branches of the so called tree of life, including us, the humans.
